HumonTeq is looking for technologists experienced in delivering enterprise services to customers. These services are built on a wide variety of technology platforms that require candidates to have diverse backgrounds and be able to quickly assimilate new technologies. Candidates must have a history of operating and supporting geographically diverse and highly available (99.99%+) platforms with limited or no maintenance windows.
Our Systems Engineers are the backbone of our DevOps practice. They have experience in software development, database technologies (SQL and NoSQL), network administration and Linux system administration. All of our engineers support multiple services and technologies, focusing on automating and improving support functions through automation, instrumentation and operational best practices.
Our Systems Engineers have end-to-end ownership of services and must also be able to support full stack troubleshooting. An applicant must be able to login to a host they have never operated before, investigate the processes and configurations on that host, identify issues with the processes and resolve those issues. Our engineers will participate in a shared 24x7 on-call rotation supporting multiple services. Issues that the Tier 1 organization is unable to resolve will be escalated to the Systems Engineers for triage and resolution.
Required Skills and Experience:
System Administration – OS deployment, maintenance
Software Development and Test – continual deployment, automated incident response, tools development and maintenance, API integration
Support – monitoring and alerting, triage and resolution, RCA publication, run book development, Tier 1 training
Performance and Capacity planning – volume trending and forecasting, transaction load analysis
Reporting – service health, data optimization
Release management - software deployment and configuration
Assurance - security response, audit compliance (SOX, ISO, PCI)
Communication – Advanced English required.

Software development – Automation and API integration in bash, Java, PHP or Python,
Linux system administration – process and socket management, network configuration, host monitoring and capacity planning
Network administration – IPv4 and IPv6 sub netting, routing and troubleshooting, BGP management
Database – SQL and NoSQL, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Hadoop - loading data, backing up data and querying data
Instrumentation / Visualization - Monitoring and alerting – Log Stash, ELK, Splunk, Sensu, Kentik, Thousand Eyes, capacity planning
Cloud services – AWS, Azure, auto-scaling, CI/CD
Experience and Qualifications:
Four year degree in IT, Computer Science or related field OR equivalent work experience
5+ years experience in systems administration or software engineering
3+ years experience developing on Unix/Linux
Demonstrated experience operating a customer facing high-volume, scalable service
Experience developing with Java or a dynamic programming languages such as Python
Be able to speak your mind and make a case for your solution to a problem.
